Natural Health and Longevity

If you want to live a long and healthy life, you are told to exercise, eat lots of vegetables, stay away from red meats… yada, yada, yada. I know, you’ve heard it all before.

A new report, “The Longevity Project” which was recently released, has some startling statements, little of which make any sense to me. In this new medical report, it was stated that exercise does not help you to live longer. Huh?

It is also stated in this report that vegetables do not help you to live longer, and that they have a very minuscule effect on overall human health. That may be the most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard!

You might also be surprised to learn, (according to this ridiculous report),  that stress and worry can be good for you and that being overly optimistic can kill you! The study comes to a basic conclusion that “many common health recommendations are ill-advised or simply wrong.”  That much I do agree with.

The report does reveal some truthful  basic facts that I and others in the natural health and wellness movement have been saying for years. Things like light and natural exercise such as moderate walking, gardening, walking your dog, visiting malls or museums, are far more beneficial and healthy for human beings than is strenuous exercise.

The study also found that creative types of stress, the types of stress that help to keep us focused and driven, are actually good for us. It seems that when we lapse into complacency, by being too concerned over anything, we tend to become more unhealthy. Makes sense.

It is all very simple when it comes to good health. Just plain old simple movement and light to moderate exercise, and eating the right foods, will always be the best and healthiest things we can do for ourselves. When we exercise moderately, eat right, and stay active, we increase our chances of living a longer and healthier life.

We do not need these silly and erroneous reports like the one quoted above, to tell us what is good for us. It is a shame that reports like this make mainstream news and get published. They lead many people down the wrong path when it comes to great natural health.
